A Diary of a Mesowarrior living with Mesothelioma A week of Asbestos and Mesothelioma Awareness The Tide Could be Turning

Image
I have been quiet on the blog scene as I have been fighting such pain in my arms. I have had a MRI that took 2 hours and it was fond I have compression on my nerves. I have lost the use of my hand -Typing with one hand is weird. WE have been trying to sort out pain killers but they are so strong I feel drunk all day. We have settled on Amitriptyline now. But good news I have signed up for the Nero Trial and that will soon start. Yes another trial. https://clinicalresearch.uhs.nhs.uk/news/targeted-cancer-treatment-could-provide-new-hope-for-mesothelioma-patients This week has been a mile stone in the Asbestos Awareness. People are waking up to the fact that the I industrial asbestos contamination is over but the new wave of contamination from asbestos in our buildings is harming the younger generation now. A Westminster Hall debate took place to discuss the removal of asbestos in workplaces across the UK.  Ian Lavery noted how terrible asbestos-related cancer is, and Jeremy C...

April Is Asbestos Awareness Month

Image
April is Asbestos awareness month so I have backed Mesothelioma UKs Campaign   The fact is while other asbestos-related diseases often only develop as a result of heavy asbestos exposure, there is no accepted safe level when it comes to mesothelioma. Jobs involving direct asbestos exposure, such as carpenters and plumbers, put people at greatest risk. However, people working in occupations not traditionally linked to asbestos exposure can also have an increased risk due to the presence of poorly managed asbestos in buildings. These include healthcare workers and school workers. Exposure can also be para-occupational and can occur through exposure to asbestos present on clothing from those working in environments with heavy use or from living near an asbestos manufacturing plant. It is now over twenty years since the UK banned the use of all asbestos, yet the Health and Safety Executive says asbestos may be found in any building built before the year 2000. We’re calling time on as...

A Diary of a Mesowarrior living with Mesothelioma Scan results

Image
A Diary of a Mesowarrior living with Mesothelioma Scan results I had to go to my hospital for the results of my scan and I was so worked up about it. We were called in and we sat down and I held my breath. I told the Oncologist that I had lost the power of my left hand and the pain was so bad. This is just what happened right at the beginning in 2008/2009 when I was then diagnosed with Mesothelioma, the whole arm we numb, So we looked at my scan. We could see the new growth by the heart and the one by my ribs has grown by 10%, so once again the tumours must be laying on nerves causing all the pain and numbness. She gave me a prescription for Pregabalin Neuraxpharm which is a drug used for epilepsy but in a smaller dose can be used for pain. After chatting about what treatment to go with, we had to rule out Hit Meso the Proton beam trial as I have already had radiotherapy on my pluraldesis site and I had system 2 trial on my spine so that shuts me out. Im not able to have the MI...
